Q: I get lots of "Load Indicator not Supported by OS!" both in my alert log and my pmon trace file.
A: IF you are not interested in IIOP connections to your 8i database and you are using dedicated server processes, you can get rid of this message by commenting out all MTS entries in your initSID.ora file, then restarting your instance.
Note that even if you created a database using dedicated server processes, an MTS dispatcher is still running for IIOP connections. Therefore, you end up with dedicated server processes for Net8 while using MTS for IIOP connections, as this text explains:

Chapter 9 - Configuring Multi-Threaded Server

Configuring Both Multi-Threaded Server and Dedicated Server Modes
Oracle8i release 8.1.5 supports MTS for GIOP and TTC presentations. (IIOP is an implementation of GIOP over TCP/IP.) Because each presentation requires its own MTS_DISPATCHERS entry in the INITSID.ORA to enable MTS connections, it is possible to configure MTS for IIOP clients and dedicated server for TTC clients. This is achieved by setting the MTS_DISPATCHERS parameter in the INITSID.ORA file with a GIOP presentation. Because dedicated server is the default behavior, no further configuration for TTC is required. A dedicated server will be used for all TTC client connections.

After restarting your instance, you will no longer get this message in your alert log, and you will get just one in your pmon trace file, but none after that.
