RepDB* supports preventive data replication capabilities
(multi-master modes, partial replication, strong consistency)
which are independent of the underlying DBMS. It uses general,
non intrusive techniques. It is implemented in Java on Linux and
supports various DBMS: PostGreSQL and Oracle™. RepDB* has been
designed and developed in France at the University of Nantes and
at the IRISA (INRIA Rennes). It has been validated using TPC-C
benchmark on the Atlas 8-node cluster and another 64-node cluster
at INRIA-Rennes. In 2005, we registered RepDB* to the APP (Agence
pour la Protection des Programmes) and released it as Open Source
Software under the GPL licence.
